WE NEED YOU!
The Motor Mill Foundation need volunteers to help with replacing flooring and windows in the Mill, and with other tasks in ongoing restoration work at the historic Motor Mill town site along the Turkey River southeast of Elkader.
 
Jon deNeui, vice-chair of the Motor Mill Foundation and crew chief for the restoration work, taught rural building construction and construction technology at Kirkwood Community College before his retirement. He promises to teach volunteers the necessary skills to make them integral members of the restoration team.
 
deNeui¹s crews work many Tuesdays and Thursdays, and some weekends.

The Motor Mill Foundation is always in need of gifts of time talent or treasure. The following is a list of current needs.  If you find a match on this list and would like to donate please send us an e-mail click here :
 
A building to store logs or lumber that will be used on restoration projects.

-- Volunteer tour guides, greeters are needed to help with summer tours weekends and weekday group tours (by appt). Training and reading materials provided.


-- Volunteers to help with structural restoration projects, on-going history research and non-native plant control. Training provided.

Funds raised for the Motor Mill are done so in a multiple ways, private donations, state, federal and private grants plus the development of a Friends Group.  One goal of the Motor Mill Foundation is to raise funds without burden to the Clayton County Conservation Board and the taxpayers of the county.
